MENTAL MONKY BALLET plays broken rock poetry, telling stories about a crazy, dark and incomprehensible yet beautiful, shimmering and spiritual world. Their influences are many, but the band mainly combines tribal vibe with pumping and trashy sounds from postpunk and grunge, coloured with melancholic and dreamy sounds.

ARTICLE IN SWEDEN'S "MUSIKINDUSTRIN":
"American company Applehead Films and Records has signed a contract with the Swedish Rock/Alternative group Mental Monky Ballet. An EP and single is up for release in mid February 2014. "I have followed Jan Fretmans work over a decade now and I really like his sound," said company founder Peter Donald. Mental Monky Ballet - with singer / producer / songwriter Vivi Lundström and producer / songwriter January Fretman in lead roles, was produced at Fretman's BrightLight Studios in Stockholm. Since landing worldwide distribution via The Orchard/Sony in 2016, the Woodstock-based indie already has already dropped six new releases. That year Donald tapped platinum Prodcer and Engineer Bill Klatt to head the music division of Applehead Films & Records. Klatt has worked with artist and bands such as Queens Of The Stone Age, Michael Jackson, Days Of the New, Travis Meeks, Philpot, Yes the Coors, the Rolling Stones and many others.

Production, recordings, engineering, mastering, and instruments are done by producers Jan Fretman and Vivi Lundström at their BrightLight Studio studio and then performed live by the band. Fretman is also engineering the live shows and contributes with the final touch to the bands distinct sound.
